History: Marvel Movie Wiki

Personality:
Steve Rogers, simply put, is a good man. Despite all the difficulties that he's had, he remains a kind-hearted and noble individual, who is both humble and compassionate. Bullied his entire childhood due to his 98lb frame, numerous illnesses, and the inability to just sit quietly while something he doesn't agree with goes on--Steve got into a large number of fights that had been impossible for him to win. From back-alley bullies to the Nazi-regime, Steve hates bullies in any form and it's one of the reasons he had been so desperate to join the army to fight in World War II.

He doesn't believe in running away or giving up; he's stubborn to a fault and will keep getting back up even when common sense suggests he should just stay down. He believes that if he starts running they'll never let him stop, that it's better to stand up and fight because eventually the other people will stop trying to knock him back down. Steve doesn't want anyone to fight his battles for him. In fact, he would rather fight their battles for them and protect anyone who needs protected.

Dr. Erskine notices him during an argument with Bucky, about how he has no right to just sit idly by while other men give their lives for him and their country. Immediately afterwards, Steve's stubborn streak shows and he tries to enlist in the army for the fifth time--illegally lying on his enlistment form to do so. When the Doctor offers him a chance, he takes it without question, absolutely confident in himself and the decision he's made.

As a soldier, Steve is disciplined and never complains that something is too hard or too difficult. He suffers through it silently and gives 110%, never giving up. During training, he proves his bravery by jumping on a grenade to protect the other people in his squad instead of running, a purely instinctual response. He also shows his strategic ingenuity by taking the pin out and knocking a flag pole over to retrieve the flag instead of attempting to climb the pole. It's because of these qualities that Erskine picks him without question for the Super Soldier Program.

Steve promises Erskine that he will remain 'a good man' after the procedure and not just a super soldier. Erskine also believes that because he has been bullied all of his life, that Steve will respect the power that he's being given and he does, sometimes not entirely believing that he deserves his new abilities but forever striving to prove to everyone (and to himself) that he does. This point hits home after Erskine is assassinated and in his dying moments makes sure Steve remembers that he made a promise not to abuse the power he's been given. This remains with him in everything that he does.

In the aftermath of Erskine's death, Colonel Phillips orders Steve to be studied in a laboratory so that the serum can be replicated but Senator Brandt insists that he would be more use as a public figure and instead puts him on a stage to sell war bonds. This frustrates and wears on Steve. He doesn't feel like he's being useful and that this isn't what he had in mind when he enlisted to help out with the war efforts. Even now, after he's proven himself, he hates to be put on display. He just wants to do his job and do it well, not be paraded around like a trophy.

Usually, he will follow orders without question, but if one of his close friends is involved or he believes it's morally wrong to just sit by and do nothing, he will break the rules. He is unfailingly loyal to friends and disregards his own safety in order to protect them and other defenseless people. When he learns the members of the 107th infantry are captured as a prisoners of war, Steve is told that Bucky had been killed in action. He still insists that the army mount some kind of rescue mission and when they don't, he goes himself instead--putting his own life at risk for a bunch of strangers and then Bucky, when he learns his friend is still alive.

After this, he is promoted to a true captain and he begins to give the orders, proving that he's a capable strategist again and again. During one mission, he's unable to save Bucky from falling from a train into an icy ravine and it hits him incredibly hard. His best friend, the only one he had for years, just died. He doesn't react well at first. He tries to drown the pain in alcohol and this is where he learns he is unable to get drunk thanks to the serum. Despite Peggy's insistence that there is nothing that he could have done to help; Steve still believes that there had to be something. He blames himself for Bucky's death and continues to feel guilty over it. Instead of moving on, he vows to bring all of Hydra in, refusing to stop until all of Hydra is killed or captured.

Steve's preference, even if they're responsible for the death of his friend, is not to kill anyone. He doesn't have a fondness for guns and rarely uses the one that he's issued, preferring instead to use his shield to incapacitate.

In the course of the fight against Hydra, Steve goes up against the Red Skull (Schmidt) himself and after winning the fight, realizes that there's no way he's going to land the plane carrying a bunch of nuclear bombs safely. He accepts that there's no other way to get out of it; he has to sacrifice himself to put the plane down in the arctic. He does what's necessary to get the job done.

Around seventy years later, SHIELD fishes him out of the ice and he's shoved headfirst into twenty-first century. He retains his 1940s sensibilities and morals. He has a basic understanding of technology that SHIELD uses, but beyond that he's rather old-fashioned. He's the same person as always--noble, kind-hearted but a little a lost in the world when he's not suited up.

As Captain America, he holds the weight of the world on his shoulders. He feels like he has to be perfect and get everything right so he lives up not only to Erskine's belief in him but to the symbol that Captain America has become to the American people. He is a symbol of hope and freedom, of never giving up or backing down. In the suit, he capable and confident, he knows what he's doing and needs to do. He won't hesitate to do it and he falls easily into the pseudo-role of Captain for the Avengers.

As Steve Rogers, he's a little lost and unsure in this new world. Steve is quiet, tending to think about things and mulling it over before speaking or offering his opinion. It makes him come off as a little shy and serious but he's a man who's lost everything he's ever known. Everyone he's ever known or cared about is gone, in some cases, long gone. It leaves him feeling isolated and lonely. He takes it out on boxing sandbags--alone and avoiding getting out in the world--where he often reminisces on his life in the 40s. He's adjusting to life in this century but slowly and sometimes he needs pushed into doing new things. By the end of Avengers, he's begun to trust the team and is beginning to forge friendships with them even if they don't always see eye to eye about things.

Women, regardless of era, kind of flabbergast Steve. He's incredibly awkward around them, tending to misspeak and ramble. He never seems to have a good handle on what they're thinking or how he should act. Skinny!Steve never managed to get a date on his own, instead Bucky usually hooked him up with a date for a double-date but it's implied that they've never gone well. In a conversation with Peggy in the car, he tells her that this is the longest conversation that he's ever had with a woman and it's only a handful of minutes.

To go along with Steve's quiet personality, his hobbies are also simple. He likes to read, usually war novels and he also dabbles in artistry, most notably sketching. He appears to be pretty good at it and it's an excellent distraction from the way his world has fallen apart. Even in this new century, his memories of the forties are still fresh. The pain of Bucky's death still aches and he still holds the guilt of getting his friend killed, though without Hydra around all he can do is start to move onward.

Fears:
One of his more tangible fears is ice and not the kind you find in glasses. Frozen lakes, freezing cold water in a dark room he can’t see in, huge expanses of snow, etc. Anything that might remind him of crashing a ship into the Arctic and being frozen. It’s not exactly a pleasant experience. Waterboarding would probably be a similar experience as well.

Another of his major fears is waking up and finding himself another hundred years in the future or, as a variation, waking up to find all his friends are dead again. This wasn't an easy process for him and he'd be exceptionally exhausted if he had to go through it all again.

By extension, failing to protect his friends or not being strong enough to save them would also be terrible. This would include being reverted back to his pre-serum state and the fear that he would be useless in that form. Reverting to skinny!Steve is also a fear because he’s worried that everyone only keeps him around because he’s Captain America and without that, he wouldn’t have any friends again.

He also likely has a fear of flying that, while it would not be unbearable, he would definitely be white-knuckled about it.

Another of his fears is letting Erskine down by becoming one of the people he was supposed to fight against. Largely this is a fear that he will turn into a bully and stop living up to his promise which would make him unworthy of calling himself Captain America.

I doubt this applies for Maison but he’s also kind of terrified of having kids because he knows how sick he’d been and he wouldn’t want to inflict that on them. Along with illness, getting sick or being seriously ill or having one of his friends get a life-threatening illness would be terrible. His mom died from TB and he doesn’t have a lot of friends to spare. Plus, he can’t fix illnesses.

Weaknesses:
Limitations wise, all that super strength and power doesn’t without drawbacks. Steve needs an incredible amount of energy to sustain himself. His metabolism burns 4x the rate of a normal human, which means he also needs 4x the food, something like 14,000 calories a day.

As a result of his metabolism, he also cannot get drunk.

He can still be injured and feel pain. Bullets will still very much do bad things to him. Hurt him badly enough, just as with anyone, and he’s not going to get back up. He heals faster but that doesn’t mean instantaneously either.

Mundane Strengths/Abilities:
Steve's been physically and mentally enhanced by the super-soldier serum. Now he's much stronger, faster and more agile than the average human. His senses of taste, sight, smell, hearing and touch have also been enhanced to be better than the average human.

For example:
Super-strength:He can easily lift a motorcycle with three adult women on it over his head as dead weight. People he punches tend to not get back up again. He can knock a boxer's sandbag off the hook and destroy it when he puts his full strength behind a hit.

Speed: At a full sprint, he can keep up with a car going 20-30 miles per hour. His endurance and stamina are all much higher than the average human. He doesn't tire easily or act like he's out of breath often.

Agility: He's been shown jumping roughly 150 ft with a running jump and over 20 ft straight up (over a fence with a running jump). He's light on his feet and incredibly agile.

Healing capability: He's more durable and able to take more damage than an average human. He can be injured but it is more difficult. He was thrown off a building by a bomb, destroying the car he landed on, and then picked himself up afterwards a little dazed but relatively uninjured beyond some scrapes. His healing time on injuries is drastically reduced from a normal human.

He is a talented and trained hand-to-find fighter, preferring to use his fists and shield over a gun which he rarely carries. Steve is very capable in the use of his shield, both in defense and offensively as a weapon. He can throw the shield accurately to knock down enemies and bank it off them or other objects in order to return it to himself. Usually enemies hit by his shield, either thrown or just bashed in the face, don't get back up.

Steve has been shown sketching in a sketchbook and appears to be a talented artist. He’s also incredibly intelligent and has been shown to be a capable strategist. This makes him an excellent leader and this is one of the reasons SHIELD is trying to establish him as the Captain of the Avengers as well.

Sensitivity/Magical Ability: N/A

Supply List:
He’ll have his Captain America suit in the Avengers style. This suit is made of Nomex and Kevlar. The neck contains a wireless transmitter so he can talk to the rest of the Avengers (I’m aware it likely will not function in the confines of the House).

He’ll also be carrying his shield which is made of an element called Vibranium and is virtually indestructible. It can withstand the full force of a hammer blow from Mjolnir, Thor’s weapon, and can also withstand Tony’s repulsors. It is ‘stronger than steel and a third the weight’. This is pretty much the only weapon he’ll use. (Oh and it has the ability to completely defy physics when thrown, seemingly always returning to him no matter what angle he throws it at. Supposedly Steve’s Just That Good.)

His utility belt has some basic things like minor first aid equipment and various other knick-knacks he may require in battle. The shield is the dangerous thing. There’s nothing super special awesome in his pockets.

Sample RP post:

New York had been a hard won battle. They had pushed, driven themselves to the limits of their abilities and past, getting up again and again because it’s what had needed to be done. This is what he’d signed up for in the forties. New century, new enemy, same stubborn conviction to do whatever it took to win and protect the people that lived here. He’s dusty and bleeding, exhausted from the rollercoaster of emotions he’s been through in the last hour. They’re not done though, not yet. He won’t rest--none of them will--until they have Loki in hand.

One second he’s collecting his shield and pulling Tony up from the rubble strewn ground. The next, he’s standing in an unfamiliar room. Steve stands and stares for a moment, blinking as he takes in his new surroundings. All proper and formal and definitely not New York. He glances down at the desk he’s standing behind, frowning at the labeled envelope he finds there but he leaves it alone. He doesn’t actually touch anything in the room. It might tell him something but he’s not going to poke around in someone else’s things.

If they’re there at all.

He rubs a hand tiredly at his face, hoping that maybe he’s just asleep or this is some trick of Loki’s that will suddenly disappear. Surprisingly, it doesn’t. Steve sighs and then he straightens, face setting in a determined expression. If this is a trick, some strange Asgardian magic, he needs to be ready for anything.

His hand raises to his communicator, ready to contact his friends and he’s met with a burst of static. Nothing. If this is just some slight of hand, they can’t all be out of range. Does Loki have the ability to transport them elsewhere? No, he’d needed the Tesseract to do that. This doesn’t make sense. Where is he if this isn’t New York?

Steve debates a moment, hand shifting to check his shield and heads for the door. He prepares for the worst and swings it open, “Hello? ”
