His eyes closed at the words. They pierced him straight to his heart. Memories of his friend laughing still shown in his mind. So happy and carefree. He barely knew what to say now.

Quietly, he tried the handle and after hesitating a moment, he came in. He shut the door gently behind him. He understood not wanting anyone to see him but they were friends. Seventy-five years ago the man would have done the same for him.

"Guess somebody thought we should be together again," he murmured. This was surely fate--wasn't it? How could it not be? All this stuff happening now. "The real answer is Zola. That first time I came after you, he did some kind of experiment. It was the start of the entire process."
